Health & Safety Policy

Our Statement of general policy is:

To provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our work activities.

To consult with our employees on matters of health and safety.  To provide and maintain safe plant and equipment. To ensure safe handling and use of substances.

To provide information, instruction and supervision for employees. To ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks and to give them adequate training.

To prevent accidents and cases of work related ill health. To maintain safe and healthy working conditions. To review and revise this policy as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Overall, final and day to day responsibility for health and safety is that of Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers.

All employees will:

Co-operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters. Not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their health and safety.

Take reasonable care of their health and safety. Report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person (as detailed in this policy statement).

Health and safety risks arising from our work activities:

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible for undertaking risk assessments, recording findings and implementing actions required to remove/control any risks found.

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will then check that the implemented actions have removed/reduced the risks. Assessments will be reviewed every year or when the work activity changes, whichever is soonest.

Consultations with employees:

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will provide a weekly consultation with employees on all sites.

Safe plant and equipment:

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible for:

Identifying all equipment/plant needing maintenance Ensuring effective maintenance procedures are drawn up. Ensuring that all identified maintenance is implemented. Ensuring all new plant and equipment acquired meets health and safety standards.

Safe handling and use of substances:

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible for:

Identifying all substances which need COSHH assessment. Undertaking COSHH assessments. Ensuring that all actions identified in the assessments are implemented.

Ensuring that all relevant employees are informed about COSHH assessments. Ensuring that new substances can be used safely before they are purchased.

Assessments will be reviewed every week or whenever the work activity changes, whichever is soonest.

Information, instruction and supervision:

The Health and Safety Law poster is displayed at CS Electrical head office and on every site. Leaflets are issued by Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers.

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible for:

The supervision of young workers/trainees who will be monitored constantly. Ensuring that our employees working at locations under the control or other employers are given relevant health and safety information.

Competency for tasks and training:

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible for:

Induction training for all employees on every new site. Job specific training. Keeping records of any training received.

Training records are kept at CS Electrical head office.

Accidents, first aid and work related ill health:

Health surveillance will be arranged by Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers. The health surveillance records will be kept at CS electrical head office. There will be a first aid box provided on every site. Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers are the appointed first aiders. All accidents and cases of work related ill health are to be kept in the accident book which is kept at CS Electrical head office. Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers are responsible for reporting accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences to the enforcing authority.

Monitoring:

To check our working conditions and ensure our safe working practices are being followed, we will:

Carry out inspections. Do spot check visits. Have safety representative inspections.

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible for:

Investigating any accidents. Investigating work related causes of sickness absences. Acting on investigation findings to prevent a recurrence.

Emergency procedures- fire and evacuation:

Richard Crofts and Matthew Sayers will be responsible in the office for:

Ensuring the fire risk assessment is undertaken and implemented. Ensuring fire extinguishers are maintained and checked every week. Escape routes are checked and kept clear every day. Alarms are tested every week. Emergency evacuation procedure will be tested every month.

On site all employees will be responsible for:
